On these public pages
These pages set no cookies and load nothing from other sites.
If you write to Sayfield, your email, your message and your name (if you give one) are kept on Sayfield's server and read by the founder. A scrambled form of your network address is kept to stop spam. All of it is deleted when you ask.
The server's logs
To keep the site running and stop misuse, the server keeps logs. A request that fails, such as a wrong password or a page that can't load, is logged with the network address it came from, but not the page asked for. Each log has a size limit, and the oldest lines are deleted first.
If you're invited
Sayfield is for people 18 and over. Signed in, the app sets one cookie to keep you signed in.
Your recordings, their transcripts and your marks are kept on Sayfield's server until you delete them, or until you haven't opened Sayfield for 2 years. You can delete one recording or everything, anytime, in the app. Deleted items can stay in backups for up to five weeks.
Training Sayfield's own speech tools on your recordings is a separate choice, never on by default. Change it anytime; “What your choices mean” in the app has the detail.
Who else handles data
Sayfield's server runs at Hetzner Online, in Helsinki, Finland. Hetzner also keeps the server's daily backups.
Google Workspace delivers email sent to Sayfield's address.
Nobody else receives your recordings today. If that changes, this list changes first.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, a correction or its deletion, or withdraw a choice. You'll get an answer within 30 days. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
